For the past 20 years, we've provided clients with context and clarity throughout the life cycle of their brand’s journey. From innovation, positioning, branding, packaging, advertising and competitive landscape analysis (plus much more), we’re here to help.
We craft comprehensive and theoretically sound research plans that pull from multiple disciplines including psychology, sociology, marketing and public health. We tap into the functional, emotional and subconscious drivers.
I’m informal, curious, chatty and warm. I’m direct and persistent. I’m someone who has a unique ability to help people elaborate on their point of view from a functional, emotional and subconscious level. I help people find and explain the why behind their attitudes and actions so you can better understand and plan what’s next for your brand.
I’m Janet Footlik, the principal of JMF Research.
I was born and raised in the North Shore suburbs of Chicago to Chilean parents (yes, I’m fluent in Spanish). My husband and I are raising our teenagers here. I graduated from Brandeis University and went straight to get my PhD as a Behavioral Scientist at the University of Illinois and also received my MPH along the way.
After graduation, I entered the ever changing and vast world of market research. I was lucky to find my path early on and work on so many different types of products (hello healthcare and consumer packaged goods). After working at a large international research firm for 5 plus years, I decided to fly solo. I wanted more flexibility to design out of the box research studies that pulled from the disciplines of psychology, marketing, sociology, public health and education. Here I am, 15 years later and couldn’t be happier.
